<aside> 💚 Taking a day off because you’re unwell in probation is not a problem. Your body doesn’t decide to get unwell once probation has finished - it’s not on a calendar timeline.

🤧 How to Take Sick Leave

  1. Book the day off on BambooHR using the Sick Leave policy.
    1. Be sure to add a description of the sickness so your manager knows why you’re off.
  2. Tell your manager - let them know how long you’re expecting to be off and if there’s any urgent work that needs attention.
  3. Get some rest! It helps you heal up (and avoids spreading the germs in case of infection).
  4. You must complete a self-certification form (see the useful links at the top of the page).
  5. When you return to work, you’ll attend a return-to-work interview with your manager to make sure we recorded the right reason for your absence and to see whether we can support you.

👄 Say it

  1. Let your team know that you’re sick and how long you expect to be off.
  2. Log it on BambooHR. Doing it from your bed? No problem! Download the BambooHR app!
  3. Cancel your meetings - it helps avoid confusion and saves everyone time.
  4. Keep your team updated on how you’re feeling. Your manager may also reach out to check on you.
  5. Let everyone know when you’re back.
